First, we're away from home and are trying our hand at being snowbirds. (Yes, we have a house sitter and are heading home soon, so no worries.) While in sunny, warm Florida, many of our cold-weather friends joined us, extended their visit or made return trips. Who could blame them?! So, we've been very busy entertaining, doing laundry, getting groceries and seeing the sights. That's one reason I haven't been blogging or writing.Secondly, my daughter is getting married in May. I'm hosting a bridal shower for her in April, so I'm madly ordering gifts, favors, sending out invitations, working on games, and so on. It's an exciting time, and of course, you know me. I am a perfectionist to the hundredth degree.
Third, I'm getting acquainted with my fellow Soul Mate Publishing author friends. They are very friendly, informative and helpful. These conversations equal at least 30 (if not 50) emails a day. Whew. And I've been working with the cover artist on my debut women's fiction, THURSDAYS AT COCONUTS. I'll be revealing that very soon!
Finally, we're tackling some renovations which includes tile, wallpaper, paint, and landscaping. Why in the world did I think I had time for that?
So, who can I blame? No one but myself. I hope to get back to a regular routine now. What projects are you juggling? What are your excuses?
In spite of your busy life you have been gaining experiences to include in your writing, like your blog today! When you return you'll have plenty of time to bury yourself in words. Nothing is more important that your daughter's wedding and all the madness that goes along with it. Enjoy!

DeleteThere's always something, isn't there? At our house, we're finishing construction on a greenhouse before my in-laws return to Colorado, while also getting ready for a Power Ranger Training Camp tomorrow for my son's fourth birthday. I've made "gear" for each child--shirts, belts, masks, samuraizers, swords, etc. and prepped a variety of party games. Most of it is done, so now I just need to decorate the cake and clean the house!

I find that I mostly blame myself for not writing, but my kids come up the rest of the time. I know that there are plenty of people who write with children quite successfully. I, also, understand why sometimes people tend to write more on weekends or when the children are not up.
ReplyDeleteIf I really wanted to squeeze more writing time in or if I had a deadline, I could get up earlier! Ha. I tend to work better with deadlines. But excuses are more fun. :)
DeleteIf you didn't have all those things to blame, other things would come up instead. No matter how much time we have or how little there is to do, there are always demands on our time.
