Book Launch Day!

Today is the day! A very exciting day, I might add. Smith's newest book, IT ALL CHANGED IN AN INSTANT, hits book stores today complete with a book tour in New York, Seattle, Austin, San Francisco and Milwaukee. This is Smith's fourth six-word memoir book (previous books have been New York Times' bestsellers). Let's hope this one is as well. It's a compilation of memoirs from famous and obscure authors and one of my memoirs is in it! Snoopy dance!!! Here's a video featuring a sampling of other authors' memoirs. http://smithmag.net/sixvideostory So far, I know three of the celebrity authors are Yogi Berra, James Frey and Molly Ringwald. I'm expecting my copy in the mail next week, and for you friends and family members, you know what to expect for your birthday this year! I ordered enough for all of us. This book may be purchased on Amazon.com or in independent book stores. Try writing six-word memoirs. Warning: They're highly addictive.

  3. That is so exciting, Beth! And to win out over so many. Celebrate more than an instant . I may use this idea in my next writing class. Congratulations!!!

  4. Thanks, Terry. Other teachers have used this concept of short writing very successfully.

Also, a preacher gave a sermon using six-word memoirs, and a reporter from either the LA Times or NY Times wrote her review using six-word sentences. So cool!

National Public Radio loves Smith and often features the memoirists on air. Of course, there's Hemingway's infamous six-word memoir as well. I just love these. Can you tell?!

  5. Congratulations, Beth. I find myself writing 6 worders when I'm sitting in the park or at McD's with my g-sons. I've not submitted them, just enjoy the fun of doing them. Same with Haiku--love it. Hope to get back in the groove of writing AND submitting. Time fleets while coping with trials.

  7. Thanks, Ginny and Jan. You're both so sweet. I hope we all have a grand, successful writing year in 2010.

Ginny, if you're writing sixes then submit them! www.smithmag.net Go for it. They'll create another book in a year or so. Hope your trials don't last long.)

I do these in spurts. I may write ten at once and then go several months without writing any. I've been writing the six-word memoirs for about two years now.
